When Taito Ban — the Japanese voice of Sung Jinwoo — delivered the iconic “Okiro” live on stage in Mumbai, the crowd didn’t just cheer. They erupted. That single moment captured everything Crunchyroll brought to Mumbai Comic Con 2026: raw, unfiltered anime fandom at its loudest and most joyful.
What Went Down at Mumbai Comic Con 2026?
Crunchyroll took over the Jio World Convention Centre on May 9th and 10th, delivering two days of special guests, live performances, immersive fan experiences, and enough anime energy to fuel an entire season binge.
The centrepiece of the weekend was the Solo Leveling special panel, featuring Taito Ban (Japanese voice of Sung Jinwoo), A-1 Pictures Animation Producer Atsushi Kaneko, and Rajesh Shukla (Hindi voice of Sung Jinwoo), hosted by Vijay Vikram Singh. The session gave fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the making of Solo Leveling — and then went a step further with a live dubbing performance, where Taito Ban and Rajesh Shukla brought iconic scenes to life in both Japanese and Hindi simultaneously.
Then came the “Okiro” moment. Live. On stage. In Mumbai. The crowd absolutely lost it.
Solo Leveling’s meteoric rise from Korean web novel to global anime phenomenon is one of the standout pop culture stories of the decade. Learn more about the franchise on Wikipedia – Solo Leveling.
Hiroshi Kitadani Turned the Venue Into a Singalong
If the Solo Leveling panel was the emotional peak of the weekend, legendary Japanese musician Hiroshi Kitadani performing “We Are!” from ONE PIECE was its roof-raising finale. Kitadani delivered a high-energy set of beloved anime tracks that had thousands of fans singing together at the top of their lungs — one of the biggest crowd moments Mumbai Comic Con has ever seen.

The live dubbing crossover between Japanese and Hindi voice actors, a legendary musician performing One Piece’s opening theme, and an entire booth ecosystem built around fan participation — this is what mainstream anime culture looks like in India in 2026.
