The most popular video making Chinese application TikTok is already banned in India and under process in the US. For this, a huge market becomes void and to fillup the gap lots of alternatives are coming in the market.
Earlier, Facebook introduced Instagram Reels and now spotted testing a new ‘Short Video’ feature inside its app. This is appearing in the middle of the News Feed and works the same as TikTok, mainly the swipe-up process that is famous in TikTok. The testing scope does not come in the light yet.
Matt Navarra tweeted this for the first time and wrote, “Facebook is also testing a ‘short videos’ feed with TikTok-like swipe up in its main app”. Apart from the swipe up to jump to the next video, the likes and comments section is also placed at the bottom right corner, just the TikTok.
A Create option is there at the top, after tapping on it for the first time it opens a new Facebook Camera with the description “Create and share short videos, and explore new ways to express yourself”. The new features allow creators to add music in the background of their clips, pause and record, sharing the video in the app, and more.
A Facebook spokesperson replied to Gadgets360, “We’re always testing new creative tools so we can learn about how people want to express themselves. Short form videos are extremely popular and we are looking at new ways to provide this experience for people to connect, create and share on Facebook.”
This new ‘Short Videos’ feature is not available for all users as it’s currently in the testing phase. But later, after successful testing, Facebook may roll this feature out commercially.
