Ten years ago, people were already swapping stuff in Facebook Groups, and Marketplace was born. Now Meta is celebrating that milestone with a new Seller app, a free Verified badge, and AI-powered tools that aim to keep Facebook human in an AI-heavy world.
What’s New in Facebook ?
| Feature | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Seller app | One place for AI-powered listings, a unified inbox, inventory management, and performance insights |
| Facebook Verified | Free badge confirming a real person, based on selfie verification and trust standards |
| Forum app | A dedicated app for Facebook Groups, with tools like Group Ask and Admin AI |
| Creator Studio | Returns as an app that guides creators on what to do next |
| Immersive video test | Opens some users straight into full-screen video, with an opt-out |
Seller: Built for Power Sellers
If you list dozens of items every week, the Seller app is designed for you. It stays connected to the same Facebook network, so your buyers remain where they already are. Only your workflow changes. Meta says AI can help write descriptions, suggest a price, and tag an item in about 30 seconds.
Facebook Verified: Know Who You’re Dealing With
The new badge shows that a real person is behind a profile. That matters when you’re buying from a stranger on Facebook Marketplace, meeting someone from a local Group, or using Facebook Dating.
Marketplace by the Numbers
One in three young adults on Facebook in the U.S. uses Marketplace daily. Globally, 430 million items and 44 million vehicles are listed every month, and Meta is exploring options for small businesses to list too.
A Video-First Future
Meta also plans a test that puts some users into full-screen video the moment they open the app. They can opt out and return to a Feed-first view, and the classic feed stays one tap away. The test starts in video-heavy countries outside the U.S., with a possible U.S. rollout next year.
