Villarreal have completed the transfer of Alexander Sorloth on a permanent deal from RB Leipzig. The player will replace Nicolas Jackson, who signed for Chelsea after his release clause was triggered by the Premier League club.
Sorloth has spent the last two seasons in Spain, playing for Real Sociedad on loan from Leipzig. During his time in La Liga, he scored 24 goals in 90 appearances for them, and has now completed a permanent switch to the Yellow Submarine.
Alexander Sorloth signs for Villarreal on long-term contract
The striker has signed a five-year deal with Villarreal, and has made the move for a fee worth €10 million plus add-ons. He follows the likes of Denis Suarez, Santi Comesana, Ben Brereton Diaz and Ramon Terrats for Quique Setien’s side ahead of the new season.
The 27-year-old stands at a massive 1.95 metres of height, and his physical presence at the top of the attack will be a huge advantage to the team. He has made 49 appearances for the national team as well, scoring 16 times. And being at the peak of his physical abilities, expectations will be high from the striker.
Leipzig have moved on from Alexander Sorloth, and have a number of talented strikers in their squad including Lois Openda, Timo Werner, Yussuf Poulsen, Benjamin Sesko and Andre Silva.
