Sivakarthikeyan’s Seyon Wraps First Schedule — Pongal 2027 is the Target and the Hype is Real

The Sivakarthikeyan machine keeps rolling. His much-anticipated Tamil actioner Seyon has officially wrapped its first shooting schedule, and the update has fans counting down to what could be one of the biggest Tamil releases of early 2027.

Seyon: Overview

Seyon Schedule One: Done and Dusted

The makers took to social media to announce the completion of the first schedule, posting: “From passion to progress. Seyon First Schedule Wrapped.” It’s a small update, but for fans who’ve been eagerly tracking every detail of this project, it’s a welcome sign that production is firmly on track.

The film went on floors on May 18, 2026, and is targeting a theatrical release during Pongal 2027.

What We Know About the Story and Look

An earlier glimpse showcased Sivakarthikeyan in a rustic avatar, with the story set in a village near Madurai — sparking comparisons to Virumaandi, one of Kamal Haasan’s iconic films. That’s high praise and high pressure at the same time, but SK has consistently surprised audiences when he steps out of his comfort zone.

Bhagyashri Borse has been confirmed as the female lead, marking her second Tamil film after Dulquer Salmaan’s Kaantha.

The combination of Sivakumar Murugesan’s direction and Kamal Haasan’s production pedigree gives Seyon a creative backbone that Tamil cinema fans will find hard to ignore. As Wikipedia notes on Tamil cinema, the industry has a rich tradition of village-set actioners that resonate deeply with mass audiences — and Seyon appears to be tapping right into that vein.

What’s Next for Sivakarthikeyan?

SK was last seen in Parasakthi, directed by Sudha Kongara, which is now streaming on ZEE5. He is also expected to collaborate with Ramkumar Balakrishnan on a new project rumored to feature Dileep in a key role.
