4 Telugu Films on OTT This Week: From Rashmika’s The Girlfriend to The Great Pre-Wedding Show

Telugu cinema lovers have plenty to celebrate this week as four exciting films make their OTT debuts across major streaming platforms. From Rashmika Mandanna’s hard-hitting drama about toxic relationships to lighthearted wedding comedies, December’s first week offers diverse entertainment for every mood. Whether you’re planning a weekend binge session or looking for your next weeknight watch, here’s your complete guide to Telugu films streaming this week.

Telugu OTT Releases This Week

1. The Girlfriend (Netflix – December 5): Rashmika’s Career-Best Performance

The Girlfriend tells the story of Bhooma, a quiet graduate student who falls for college heartthrob Vikram, but their seemingly ideal romance soon devolves into a toxic, emotionally abusive dynamic where Vikram’s possessiveness suffocates Bhooma’s independence.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Rahul Ravindran, the film shows Bhooma’s journey as she struggles with shame, confusion, handling truth and the cost of staying silent, while also exploring her healing journey including painful choices and emotional fallout.

Released theatrically on November 7, 2025, the film will stream in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam, allowing audiences to watch the movie in their regional language. This multi-language release positions it for maximum reach across India.

The supporting cast includes Rao Ramesh, Anu Emmanuel, and Rohini Molleti in pivotal roles. Music by Hesham Abdul Wahab and background score by Prashanth R. Vihari enhance the emotional depth of this powerful narrative.

What makes The Girlfriend essential viewing is its unflinching examination of controlling “alpha male” behavior and a woman’s journey toward emancipation. The film serves as both entertainment and social commentary, resonating particularly with younger audiences navigating modern relationship dynamics.

2. Thamma (Prime Video – December 2): Rashmika’s Bollywood Horror-Comedy

Interestingly, Rashmika Mandanna dominates this week’s OTT releases with two films. Thamma follows meek journalist Alok (Ayushmann Khurrana), who falls in love with Tadaka (Rashmika Mandanna), a “Betaal” (vampire-like being) from a community sworn off human blood.

When a freed, bloodthirsty Betaal leader named Yakshasan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) threatens their worlds, Alok must battle him after transforming into a Betaal himself. This supernatural romantic horror-comedy marks Rashmika’s continued expansion in Bollywood following her success in Animal and Pushpa.

The film received a decent response in theatres and arrived on Prime Video on a rental basis in both Hindi and Telugu. Part of Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe (which includes Stree and Bhediya), Thamma blends scares with laughs while telling an unconventional love story.

The Telugu version makes it accessible for South Indian audiences who prefer watching Rashmika in their language. The film’s arrival alongside The Girlfriend creates a Rashmika Mandanna double feature for fans this weekend.

3. The Great Pre-Wedding Show (Aha – December 5): Comedy About Wedding Photography Chaos

The Great Pre-Wedding Show is a Telugu comedy film centered on Ramesh, a small-town village photographer hired to shoot an extravagant pre-wedding video for a wealthy local couple.

The film’s premise revolves around the chaos that erupts when Ramesh’s assistant loses the memory cards containing all the videos and photos from the elaborate shoot. What follows is a frantic scramble to recreate the footage before the clients discover the disaster, leading to hilarious situations and unexpected complications.

This lighthearted entertainer offers perfect weekend viewing for those seeking laughs without heavy themes. The film captures the madness of modern Indian weddings where pre-wedding shoots have become as important as the ceremony itself, creating relatable humor for anyone who’s attended or planned a contemporary wedding.

Streaming on Aha, the platform dedicated to Telugu content, ensures the film reaches its core audience effectively.

4. Stephen (Platform TBA – December 2025): Psychological Thriller

Stephen is a Tamil psychological thriller directed by Mithun Balaji that features Gomathi Shankar and revolves around the story of a confessed killer who is being evaluated by a psychiatrist on a case.

While primarily a Tamil film, Stephen is expected to have Telugu dubbing available given the cross-language release trend. The psychological cat-and-mouse game between the killer and psychiatrist promises intense drama and unexpected twists.

Films centered on psychological evaluations and criminal minds have found dedicated audiences on OTT platforms where viewers can pause and discuss theories. Stephen appears positioned to join this genre’s successful streaming titles.

The exact streaming platform and release date for the Telugu version remain to be confirmed, but the film is scheduled for December release alongside other regional language versions.
