India vs New Zealand 3rd ODI: Match cancelled due to rain; Former Indian cricketer is disappointed with India’s bowling attack

The third and final ODI between India and New Zealand for canceled due to rain. The black Caps won the series by 1-0. In the first match, the host won the game by seven wickets and the following matches got canceled due to rain. In the third ODI, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat. The men in blue got off to a slow start and lost wickets at regular intervals. Washington Sundar mustered 51 and Shreyas Iyer scored 49. The team was bundled up for 219 in 47.3 overs. New Zealand on the other hand, had shown some solid batting performances. Finn Allen scored 57 and Devon Conway mustered 97 runs for the opening wicket. Arshdeep Singh took Devon Conway’s wicket while fast bowler Umran Malik scalped Finn Allen’s wicket. They could post only 104/1 in 18 overs before the rain started and the match was called off.

The sum appeared to be well below average, but New Zealand appeared to be in good form to make up ground. Most probably, the team would have been able to get to the total smoothly, if the game wasn’t canceled.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer is worried about Indian bowlers for the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. He believes India doesn’t have sixth and seventh bowling options in absence of Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. Further, he added that the men in blue had a lot of options in the 2011 World Cup. The team management is preparing all-rounder Deepak Hooda, who didn’t bowl in the ODIs but had a four-wicket haul in the T20 series.
