The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be holding a mini-auction in Bengaluru for IPL 2023. The Auction in Bengaluru will be taking place on December 16. As the salary purse increased to Rs 95 crore, there’s a possibility that some players will be breaking the record of the most expensive buys.
The final decision will be taken in the newly-formed IPL Governing Council meeting after the Annual General Meeting on October 16.
For this mini-auction, IPL has asked the ten franchises to submit their list of retained players by November 15. At IPL 2022 Auction, the salary purse was set at Rs. 90 Crore. In 2022, 5 Crore has increased. In IPL 2024, it is expected that the purse will be increased to rs 100 Cr. The trade-ins play a major factor that may grow or shrink the salary purse for franchises. As per BCCI, December 16 is the planned date but it may change as well.
IPL 2023 mini-auction details
IPL 2023 is expected to start in the last week of March, by the 23rd of the month. The final decision is to be taken during the auctions when the IPL governing council meets.
In this edition, the home and away from home format will make a comeback,
“The next season of men’s IPL will also go back to the home and away format with all 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues.” Sourav Ganguly said in his letter to the state associations.
The IPL 2023 Trade-In window will be open 7 days before the auction. The biggest name in this Trade-In window is Chennai Super King Ravindra Jadeja. He joined the franchise in 2012 and had a fallout with CSK after 2022’s IPL. MS Dhoni had stepped down as a skipper and Ravindra Jadeja filled his position. Things didn’t go well as CSK had its worst season and mid-way, MS Dhoni became the skipper once again.
The cricketer deleted all his posts of CSK from Social Media and was not a part of the video where Dhoni’s birthday was celebrated. This clearly states that everything isn’t going great for the cricketer and the franchise.
