Samsung’s 14nm based 16GB Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM announced

Offers over 1.3x faster-processing speeds than LPPDDR5

In the latest news, the South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronic’s LPDDR5X DRAM will provide over 1.3x faster processing speeds and consume nearly 20% less power than the previous LPDDR5 solution. This is quite a breakthrough that the South Korean tech giant has managed to achieve.

The newly developed high-speed LPDDR5X solution will broaden the use of high-performance, low-power memory beyond smartphones to AI and edge applications. As we know, the company is a world leader in advanced memory technology, and the company has recently announced its latest and the industry’s first 14-nanometer (nm) based 16-gigabit (Gb) Low Power Double Data Rate 5X (LPDDR5X) DRAM.

The new technology solutions are further designed to drive growth throughout the high-speed data service applications, including 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and the metaverse.

“In recent years, hyperconnected market segments such as AI augmented reality (AR) and the metaverse, which rely on extremely fast large-scale data processing, have been rapidly expanding. Our LPDDR5X will broaden the use of high-performance, low-power memory beyond smartphones and bring new capabilities to AI-based edge applications like servers and even automobiles.”

The company’s LPDDR5X is a next-generation mobile DRAM that has been designed to significantly boost speed, capacity, and power savings for future 5G applications. It was 2018 when the company first shocked the industry with the first-ever 8Gb LPDDR5 DRAM. The South Korean tech giant has shaken the tech industries with its aggressive movement taking the company beyond mobile markets the first 16Gb LPDDR5X DRAM.

Samsung has also announced that it will start its collaboration with global chipset manufacturers to establish a more viable framework for the expanding world of digital reality.
