Luka Doncic makes more history with a triple-double as he outbattles the Rockets

Since Luka Doncic was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018, he has quickly risen to become one of NBA’s biggest stars.

The Slovenian national has become accustomed to breaking records almost every week, in only his first two seasons in the league.

On Monday night, he managed to write his name amongst the game’s greats once again, becoming the fourth fastest player to reach 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists in the history of NBA.

The Maverick was in fine form helping the team win their third win of the season 113-100, defeating James Harden and the Rockets in Houston. He has season highs with 33 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists, registering his first triple double of the season. He outplayed 2018 MVP Harden, who ended the night with 21 points and 10 assists, as he works his way back to fitness. Doncic missed the previous game because of a quadriceps contusion.

The 21-year-old leapfrogged LeBron James in the list and is only behind Oscar Robertson, Ben Simmons and Magic Johnson. Doncic has three of the five 30-15-10 performances in the history of NBA by players younger than the age of 22. The other two are recorded by Johnson and Robertson in 1960 and 1981.

The young star only needed 139 games to eclipse the 1,000 point, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assist mark, while James needed 158 games to achieve the same feat. Doncic also became the 11th player in the league to dish out 1,000 assists before turning 22 years old.
