Wednesday : A Parisian detour with Uncle Fester

With Enid stuck as a full werewolf Alpha, Wednesday skips going home for summer and instead teams up with Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) on a road trip to find her. Filming has already taken the cast to central Paris, with set photos showing Jenna Ortega sporting new bangs and Fester zooming along the Seine on his sidecar motorcycle.

The return of Aunt Ophelia

Eva Green joins as Aunt Ophelia Frump, a haunting new presence tied to a chilling vision Wednesday has after Morticia hands her a family journal. The cryptic message “Wednesday must die,” scratched into a wall, hints at a major mystery threading through the season.

Tyler’s unfinished business

Wednesday spared Tyler instead of killing him in season 2, and showrunners confirm that decision won’t go unpunished. Expect him to resurface as a looming threat.

A star-studded new lineup

Beyond Eva Green, Netflix has assembled a serious ensemble: Winona Ryder returns for a Beetlejuice-style reunion with Burton and Ortega, while Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance round out new and guest roles. Familiar faces like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Joanna Lumley are all confirmed to return.

Why the wait is so long

Season 3 began filming in February 2026 and isn’t expected to wrap until around November 2026, pushing the release into 2027. For context, this kind of extended, multi-location production schedule mirrors how major television production timelines have stretched in recent years as shows lean into cinematic-scale filming across multiple countries.

Production hit a brief scare in late June 2026 when Eva Green suffered a leg injury on set in Ireland, though reports confirm she’s recovering well and shooting has continued.

With Tim Burton back in the director’s chair and a mystery-laden plot pulling in Ophelia, Tyler, and a possible Manhattan detour, season 3 is shaping up to be Wednesday’s most ambitious outing yet. Why this matters for Wednesday fans

A 2027 release means a long wait, but the scale of this season — international filming, A-list new cast, and a darker family-secrets mystery — suggests Netflix is investing heavily to make season 3 worth it. The stakes (and Wednesday’s signature deadpan wit) are only getting bigger.
