Indian cinema just witnessed one of its most awaited love story confirmations. Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda — two of South India’s biggest stars — have officially announced their wedding, and they did it in the most touching way imaginable: by naming the ceremony after what their fans always called them.

The Announcement That Broke the Internet

Both Rashmika and Vijay simultaneously posted a heartfelt note on Instagram confirming their marriage. The message was everything fans could have dreamed of — warm, personal, and deeply grateful. In the note, the couple acknowledged that fans had christened them “VIROSH” long before the couple had made any public admission, combining Vijay and Rashmika’s names into one identity.

They wrote that before they made any plans or chose anything for themselves, their fans were already there — showering them with love and a name. So in return, they named their union after that fan-given identity: The Wedding of VIROSH. It’s rare in Indian celebrity culture for a couple to so openly honour their fanbase at such a private moment. This wasn’t just a wedding announcement — it was an act of love directed right back at the people who had championed the relationship for years.

A Love Story Hidden in Plain Sight

Vijay and Rashmika reportedly grew close on the sets of Geetha Govindam in 2018 and deepened their bond during Dear Comrade in 2019. For the better part of seven to eight years, the couple kept their relationship entirely private — neither confirming nor denying what the world suspected. Even as recently as a Hollywood Reporter India interview, Rashmika had gracefully sidestepped the question, saying the right time would come to speak about it.

That time, clearly, has arrived. As Wikipedia’s overview of Rashmika Mandanna highlights, she has become one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated pan-India stars — making this wedding one of the most anticipated celebrity events in recent memory.
