Vijay DeverakondaSays No More Ticket Hikes: The Star Putting Moviegoers’ Wallets First Before Ranabaali Hits Theatres

Cinema costs are climbing, and so are ticket prices. So when a star promises to keep rates steady for his own films, fans notice. Just days before Ranabaali arrives, Vijay Deverakonda has made exactly that pledge.

What Did He Say?

At the film’s pre-release event, the actor said, “There won’t be any ticket hikes for my films from now on,” adding that this holds as long as the decision is within his control. The one exception? A project with SS Rajamouli. It’s a clear signal that he wants audiences to enjoy movies without a heavy price tag.

Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali : Overview

The Story Behind the Film

Ranabaali follows a fearless warrior who rises against colonial rule after seeing his people suffer from hunger and exploitation. With his wife Jayamma, he leads a fierce resistance against the ruthless British commissioner Sir Theodore Hector, raiding colonial grain supplies and striking through guerrilla attacks to protect his community.

A Word on Violence

Vijay also spoke about the film’s action. He said the makers deliberately toned down the violence compared with real-life atrocities, and that the aim is to show reality rather than glorify it. He asked viewers not to compare Ranabaali with recent films he feels glorified violence.

Why This Matters?

Ticket hikes have been a hot topic for audiences, especially for big releases. A star publicly choosing affordability could win goodwill and encourage family audiences to head to theatres. Whether others follow remains to be seen, but it’s a notable stand from Vijay Deverakonda.

What’s Next for Vijay?

• Rowdy Janardhana: An action drama by Ravi Kiran Kola with Keerthy Suresh. It was first planned for December 2026, but an updated release plan is still awaited.
• VDxShouryuv: A tentatively titled romantic action drama with Hi Nanna director Shouryuv, with Hesham Abdul Wahab composing the songs and score.
