It started with blockbuster films, sizzling on-screen chemistry, and fan debates in the early 2000s. Over two decades later, the names Thalapathy Vijay and Trisha Krishnan are dominating headlines again — this time, following Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam filing for divorce on February 27, 2026, citing an extramarital affair with “an actress.” While no name has been officially cited in the petition, social media has erupted pointing toward Trisha. Here’s the complete timeline — just the facts.
⚠️ Disclaimer: All relationship details between Vijay and Trisha remain unconfirmed allegations and social media speculation. Neither party has publicly confirmed any romantic relationship. This article presents a factual timeline of their professional history and publicly reported events only.

What the Divorce Petition Actually Says
Sangeetha’s petition, filed under the Special Marriage Act 1954, cites mental cruelty, emotional neglect, and an extramarital relationship with “a prominent actress.” The petition does not name Trisha Krishnan. Per court documents, Sangeetha claims she discovered Vijay’s alleged relationship in 2021, but that despite repeated assurances, it continued — causing “irretrievable breakdown” of the marriage. She is seeking divorce, permanent alimony, and residence rights.
Why the Internet Points to Trisha
Vijay and Trisha have starred together in five films across two decades. The June 2024 birthday selfie went massively viral, with fans noting matching accessories, identical travel photos, and Trisha’s repeated use of specific emojis exclusively when Vijay is involved. These remain social media observations — not verified facts.
Neither Vijay nor Trisha Krishnan has publicly responded to the allegations or the speculation circulating online. At present, the only confirmed development is the divorce petition filed in court.

Trisha Krishnan is one of South India’s most celebrated actresses, known for Ghilli, 96, Ponniyin Selvan, and Leo. She has earned multiple Filmfare Awards South and holds the title of “South Queen” among Tamil cinema fans. She has never been married.
