A couple on the verge of divorce, a family wedding and a massive typhoon: it’s an unusual mix, and one that sounds like great comedy fuel.

Typhoon: The Premise

Typhoon (working title) is a disaster escape comedy about a couple who have decided to divorce but still travel to their hometown for a relative’s wedding. Then a huge typhoon hits, and they’re stuck together. Lee Jung Ho, director of The Beast and Broken, is writing and directing.

Typhoon: Cast and Characters

Actor	Character
Koo Kyo Hwan	Jin Mo, an ordinary office worker stuck at assistant manager level for years
Han Ji Min	Jae Yi, his bold, resourceful wife who dreams of becoming a YouTuber
Oh Jung Se	Sang Hyuk, a 119 rescue worker and the couple’s friend
Han Sun Hwa	Rose, a stingy pension owner who dreams of romance
Kim Eung Soo	Hyun Deok, half of a couple married 48 years
Oh Min Ae	Pil Ja, Hyun Deok’s wife, travelling by camper van
Kim Yo Han	Dae Han, a groom-to-be
Choi Ji Su	Cha Young, Dae Han’s bride-to-be

What Makes It Interesting?

Jin Mo is a small-city office worker who attended Seoul University and joined a major corporation, only to stall at the same rank. Jae Yi, once a rising talent at her publishing company, left her job to balance child-rearing and work, and relies on practical everyday know-how to find a way through the chaos. Their mismatched approaches should create plenty of comic tension.

Oh Jung Se’s character gets trapped alongside them while trying to rescue the stranded couple, which adds an extra layer of trouble.

A Familiar Reunion

Han Sun Hwa reunites with Koo Kyo Hwan and Oh Jung Se, her co-stars in the drama We Are All Trying Here. That kind of on-set chemistry often translates well into comedy.

Production Status and Release

The script reading took place in late September and filming has begun. The film is scheduled for release in 2027.
