When the President of the United States personally calls you the greatest of all time and publicly begs you to come to his country — you know you’re on another level. What Did Trump Actually Say?

Trump posted a video on TikTok that went viral almost instantly. His message was direct, enthusiastic, and unmistakably personal:

“Ronaldo, you are the greatest of all time. America needs you. Keep it up, we hope to see you soon over here.”

The statement carries two equally exciting interpretations — Trump either wants Ronaldo and Portugal competing on US soil during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, or he’s actively nudging the Portuguese superstar toward a move to MLS, setting up the greatest football rivalry American soil has ever seen: Ronaldo vs. Messi, live and in person.

Trump’s Ongoing CR7 Bromance

This is far from the first time Trump has publicly championed Ronaldo over Messi. In November 2025, Trump hosted Ronaldo at a White House dinner alongside the Saudi Crown Prince and Elon Musk — a star-studded evening that generated headlines globally.

At the dinner, Trump said: “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo. Baron met him, and I think now my son respects his father a little more, simply because I introduced him to Ronaldo.”

It was warm, funny, and revealing — Trump’s admiration for CR7 is clearly personal, not performative.

Could Ronaldo Really Come to America?

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently playing for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, but with the 2026 World Cup arriving on American soil, the timing of Trump’s message is anything but coincidental. Whether it’s a World Cup visit with Portugal or a full-time MLS switch, one thing is certain — Trump wants Ronaldo in America, and he’s not being subtle about it.
