Fallout 4, the beloved post-apocalyptic RPG from Bethesda, has received a next-gen update in 2024, bringing the 2015 game up to speed for modern consoles and PCs.

This update breathes new life into the Commonwealth, offering graphical improvements, performance enhancements, bug fixes, and even additional content. Let’s explore the five biggest changes you need to know about.

Top 5 Changes in Fallout 4:

1. Enhanced visuals for a stunning Wasteland

The most striking change comes in the form of striking visuals. Fallout 4 now supports 4K resolution on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, offering a significant leap in detail and clarity compared to the original release. Players can choose between two display modes:

Quality Mode: Targets a smooth 30 FPS at 4K resolution with ultra settings, providing the most visually impressive experience.
Performance Mode: Aims for a buttery-smooth 60 FPS at 4K resolution with dynamic scaling, prioritizing frame rate for fast-paced action.

The update even adapts to your display. Quality mode offers 40 FPS on compatible 120Hz displays, while on 1440p displays, it targets 60 FPS with ultra settings.

2. Squashing Bugs: A Smoother Wasteland Experience

Fallout 4, while iconic, was not without its fair share of bugs. Bethesda has addressed many longstanding issues with this update. The patch notes detail fixes for technical glitches, save data problems, quest bugs, and graphical artifacts.

It’s important to note that while the update tackles many issues, some new ones might have been introduced. The community is actively monitoring these, and Bethesda is likely to address them in future patches.

3. PC Players Rejoice: Widescreen and Creation Kit Updates

PC gamers have always enjoyed a level of graphical reliability and performance that surpassed consoles. However, the next-gen update brings them some exciting additions. Official support for wide and ultrawide screens allows for a truly immersive wasteland experience.

Additionally, the Fallout 4 Creation Kit, a vital tool for modders, has received a much-needed refresh. This update streamlines navigation, fixes bugs, and reduces crashes, making it easier for modders to create and share their amazing content.

4. Fallout 4 Finds a New Home on the Epic Games Store

This update expands Fallout 4’s availability. The game is now officially available on the Epic Games Store, giving players another platform choice for their wasteland adventures.

5. Steam Deck Gets Official Verification for Smooth Wasteland Exploration

While Fallout 4 generally ran well on the Steam Deck before the update, the official “Deck Verified” badge signifies a smoother overall experience. This verification ensures the game runs perfectly on Valve’s handheld console, making it a fantastic option for taking your wasteland adventures on the go.

Conclusion: A Refreshed Wasteland Awaits

The Fallout 4 next-gen update is a significant upgrade for both console and PC players. Whether you’re a seasoned Sole Survivor or a newcomer to the Commonwealth, this update offers a visually stunning, smoother, and bug-fixed wasteland experience.

With additional platform options and a refreshed Creation Kit for modders, Fallout 4 remains a compelling post-apocalyptic adventure in 2024. So, grab your Pip-Boy, gear up, and prepare to explore the Wasteland anew!
