Plot
Sidharth Malhotra plays Rishi in The Vvaan, a mystery thriller that brings together folklore, faith and supernatural elements. His wife Mamta, played by Tamannaah Bhatia, wants to visit Devanchal for Chhath Puja, but Rishi is not keen on the idea and would rather go to Goa. His plans change when his elder brother, played by Annup Sonii, asks him to come to the village over a land-related issue. Rishi finally travels to Devanchal with Mamta. Once there, he comes across the village’s long-standing belief about the forest and the dangers of entering it after dark. Rishi does not take the warnings seriously and sees them as an old superstition.
A visit to his ancestral village turns into a fight for survival when a sceptical city dweller unknowingly breaks a centuries-old tradition by entering a forbidden forest. His actions awaken a divine goddess whose return signals the beginning of an ancient battle, leaving him to defend his people from a looming threat beyond human understanding.
A Long Road to Release
Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia’s mythological action fantasy was first meant to release around Chhath 2025, then shifted to May 2026, then to August 28, before settling on today, September 25. Along the way the team squeezed in additional shoots and reshoots over the summer.
The change was reported as an attempt to avoid a crowded release period that included Toxic and Eetha.
