The Husband K-Drama: Namkoong Min Becomes a Fugitive Husband Fighting a Ruthless Criminal to Rescue His Kidnapped Wife — Premieres July 4

One day. That’s all it takes for a neurosurgeon’s life to shatter. The Husband is the crime thriller that asks: what if the day you agreed to divorce, your wife was kidnapped?

The Husband Cast & Crew

The Husband: Plot That Changes Everything

Kang Tae-ju, a neurosurgeon and hospital director, discusses divorce with his estranged wife Go Se-yoon, the chairwoman of a hospital board. The next day, Se-yoon is abruptly kidnapped, plunging Tae-ju into an extreme crisis. The abduction is orchestrated by Noh Man-hee, a criminal operating under the guise of a local academy director. Kang Tae-ju becomes both a fugitive, suspected of kidnapping his own wife, and a pursuer desperate to save her. It’s the ultimate irony — accused of the very crime he’s fighting to undo.

Namkoong Min’s Comeback & Action Philosophy

The Husband marks Namkoong Min’s return to KBS dramas after approximately seven years. And his approach to the action sequences is refreshingly grounded.

Speaking about the action, Namkoong Min shared: “The action in this project is closer to action that conveys a sense of desperation rather than flashy stunts. Since Kang Tae Joo is an ordinary doctor, not a professional fighter, I spent a lot of time thinking about how a real person would move if placed in such a situation.”

He deliberately avoided polished choreography, instead focusing on capturing urgency and vulnerability — the raw desperation of an ordinary man pushed to extraordinary extremes.

The Villain’s Mystery

Kim Dae-myung plays Noh Man-hee, the villain who kidnaps Se-yoon. The newly released poster captures the tense conflict between these two men, with Noh Man-hee wearing an unreadable expression and a faint, wry smile. The poster’s caption hints at a deeper motive: “The reason your wife ended up like that… is all because of…”

This isn’t a random kidnapping. There’s history. There’s connection. And that’s where the thriller truly begins.

Why You Should Care

This is more than just a rescue story. The drama uncovers deep-seated secrets surrounding the marriage, forcing Tae-ju to operate simultaneously as both fugitive and pursuer as he becomes entangled in a volatile web of deception. Wikipedia

The questions pile up: Why did the criminal choose this couple? What secrets are buried in their marriage? Can desperation ever be trusted?
