India’s comedy scene just got its biggest upgrade. Samay Raina and Netflix India have officially announced a two-project collaboration, and fans couldn’t be more hyped. Here’s everything you need to know.

From Chess to Comedy to Netflix — Samay’s Wild Ride

Samay Raina began his career as a chess streamer and stand-up comedian before India’s Got Latent catapulted him into mainstream recognition. hollywoodreporterindia

The show wasn’t without drama. Season 1 ran into controversy after remarks made on the show drew public and legal scrutiny, leading Raina to pull all episodes from YouTube and take a personal hiatus.

But the comeback was real. Since the controversy, Raina completed a global tour, dropped an hour-long YouTube special, and appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix — proving his audience never really left. hollywoodreporterindia

Why This Collaboration Is a Game-Changer

The simulcast model — streaming simultaneously on Netflix and YouTube — is virtually unheard of in Indian entertainment. It bridges premium OTT audiences with free YouTube viewers, maximising reach without sacrificing exclusivity. This is a textbook move for growing a creator-led IP into a global property.

Stand-up comedy, as a format, has historically thrived on accessibility — and this deal is a masterclass in exactly that.
