Samay Raina and Medha Shankr Deny December Wedding Rumours With Witty Instagram Posts

Comedian Samay Raina and actress Medha Shankr have shut down speculation of a December wedding after an anonymous social media post claiming inside knowledge of their alleged engagement went viral over the weekend. Rather than issue a serious denial, the pair chose to poke fun at the rumours through their own Instagram accounts, delighting fans who follow their easy on-screen chemistry.

The rumour reportedly began with a Reddit post from a user claiming to be a “family friend,” alleging the two were planning to marry in December. The claim picked up steam after fans spotted what appeared to be similar vacation photos from both stars, seemingly taken in Switzerland around the same time, fuelling speculation that they had travelled together.

What Samay Raina and Medha Shankr Said

Raina’s response leaned on his packed December schedule, referencing his India tour as the reason the “wedding” would have to wait, while Shankr opted for a lighter touch, posting a meme of a baby cow lounging in bed alongside song lyrics dismissing the claims altogether. Neither addressed the Switzerland photos directly, leaving that part of the rumour mill still spinning.

The two have been linked in the public eye for a while now, having been spotted together at social gatherings on multiple occasions. Their friendship became more visible after Shankr appeared as a panelist on the second season of Raina’s show India’s Got Latent, where he referred to her on-air as his “very good friend.”

Both stars have busy schedules ahead. Shankr is set to appear in a new detective comedy alongside Sunny Kaushal and Nimrat Kaur, while Raina continues work on India’s Got Latent season 2 alongside his previously mentioned India tour later this year.

This isn’t the first time a celebrity pairing has had to publicly bat away wedding speculation built entirely on circumstantial social media clues, and it likely won’t be the last. For now, fans will have to settle for enjoying Raina and Shankr’s comic timing off-screen as much as on it, while any actual relationship status between the two remains firmly unconfirmed by either party.
