Realme is shaking up flagship smartphone design with something we’ve never seen before: the world’s first switchable camera bump. The Realme GT 8 Pro, launching in India this November, lets you swap camera modules like building blocks, ditching the boring one-size-fits-all approach.

How Does the Switchable Design Work?

The personalization involves a simple, tactile mechanism: unscrew the existing camera bump, select a different style, and secure it with a precise lock-in click. Choose from round, square, or robot-themed designs to match your mood or style.

This isn’t just a gimmick. Realme positions this hardware change as a direct response to stagnation in monotonous flagship designs, targeting young users who want devices that reflect their personalities. The robot-themed module even features a contrasting hue against the phone body through Realme’s Color-Mix concept.

Beyond Looks: Flagship Powerhouse

While the design grabs headlines, the GT 8 Pro packs serious hardware. It’s claimed to score over 4,000,000 on AnTuTu, making it one of the most powerful smartphones launching this year.

The camera system, co-engineered with Ricoh GR, includes a 200MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and an astounding 120x digital zoom. Realme has integrated a dedicated “Ricoh GR Mode” with Quick Focus Mode and an immersive viewfinder for professional-grade point-and-shoot photography.

The massive 7,000mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging addresses one of the GT 7 Pro’s thermal management issues during heavy use.

Why This Matters

Flagship smartphones have become indistinguishable rectangles with fixed camera bumps. By making the camera module interchangeable, Realme offers something competitors can’t: personalization without sacrificing performance. It’s purely cosmetic—the lenses stay fixed—but it transforms your phone from a generic gadget into a personal statement.
