The trailer landed last week with a very positive response. Earlier clips drew some criticism about the VFX, but the trailer has largely quietened that talk. Advance bookings opened in India two days ago and are off to a superb start, and the marketing campaign has picked up pace with multiple events.

The one worry is the pre-Diwali release window, since a film of this scale hasn’t opened in this period for a while. Even so, the pinpoint forecast has been raised closer to the high end. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, and it draws on the epic tale of the Ramayana.

Udta Teer: Quiet Buzz, Lower Hopes

Buzz hasn’t moved much in the final week. Advance sales are in a similar range to Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which is roughly what was expected. The high end of the range now looks unlikely, so the forecast was trimmed. It’s a modest opening, and word of mouth will decide the rest.

Pehla Pyaar Doosri Baar: A Small Release

This film is also out today, but it has the smallest forecast of the three, at around Rs 50 lakh on day one. Little buzz has been reported, so it will likely depend on word of mouth and small-centre audiences.

Today’s openings are a small test of audience appetite before Ramayana: Part One arrives on 5 November. Strong collections for the big film could set the tone for the festive season.
