What’s the Story?

Veeru, an NRI who returns to his village from the USA hoping to marry his childhood sweetheart, finds out she is being married off to someone else. After a failed attempt to stop the wedding, a heartbroken and intoxicated Veeru ends up spending the night at a deserted, haunted fort — and that’s where the real story begins. What supernatural chaos follows, and how Veeru navigates it, is the heart of this fantasy comedy film.

What Twitter Is Saying — The Verdict Is Split

Audience reactions after first-day screenings have been genuinely divided, which is always a sign that the film takes some risks.

Some viewers found the first half overly slow and padded with unnecessary filler, feeling the story only picked up momentum well into the second half. A few also noted that the climax’s emotional beats didn’t quite land, and that comedy during the fight sequences broke the tension rather than enhancing it — ultimately calling it below average.

On the flip side, a significant portion of the audience had a completely different experience. Several fans praised it as a wholesome, laugh-out-loud family entertainer with not a single dull moment. Getup Srinu is reportedly the standout performer, drawing huge laughs throughout. Many also credited director Manasa Sharma’s bold creative vision and producer Niharika Konidela’s strong content selection. A few early viewers have even called it a summer blockbuster, saying the hype around it is entirely justified.

Conclusion

Rakasa seems built for audiences who want fun first and frights second. If you enjoy the horror-comedy format and go in for a good time rather than a tight, serious narrative, this one is likely to deliver. Fans of Sangeeth Shobhan following his breakout in MAD will also find him energetic and likeable in the lead role here.
