The Cast — An Ensemble for the Ages

This isn’t just a film. It’s a convergence of Bollywood royalty around a story that belongs to all of India.

Riteish Deshmukh leads as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, with his own real-life son Rahyl Deshmukh playing the younger Shivaji in a deeply personal touch. Genelia Deshmukh portrays Saibai, adding emotional depth to the warrior king’s personal journey.

Sanjay Dutt commands the screen as the formidable Afzal Khan. Abhishek Bachchan appears as Sambhaji Shahaji Maharaj. Vidya Balan plays Badi Begum. Bhagyashree brings gravitas as Jijabai, Shivaji’s revered mother.

And then there’s Salman Khan — confirmed to appear as Jiva Mahala, the loyal warrior and Shivaji’s trusted bodyguard, whose decisive act at the 1659 Battle of Pratapgarh is the stuff of legend. Though his screen time is brief, sources say the role is emotionally powerful.

What the Trailer Reveals

The trailer arrives thundering with epic battle sequences, sweeping visuals by master cinematographer Santosh Sivan, and a soundtrack already generating buzz from music duo Ajay-Atul.

When Riteish delivers the line “Marathon ne gairon ki marzi rakhna chhod diya hai,” it carries the full weight of history. Critics and fans alike have called his transformation convincing and emotionally charged — a man visibly carrying the burden and the honour of his most personal project.

Riteish himself grew emotional at the trailer launch, expressing that bringing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s story to the big screen was not just a cinematic ambition but a profound responsibility.
