If you’ve been grinding ranked matches lately, brace yourself as they have just dropped the PUBG Mobile 4.4 Beta, and it’s shaking up the meta in a big way. Snipers are getting a serious power boost, ARs are being reined in, and there’s a brand-new Gladiator-themed world to explore. Let’s break it all down.

PUBG Mobile 4.4 Update Beta: Weapon Balance Changes at a Glance

The highlight of the PUBG Mobile 4.4 Update Beta is a sweeping rebalance of the weapon ecosystem. Here’s what’s changing:

Weapon Type	Change	Impact
Sniper Rifles / DMRs	No damage drop-off with distance; extra armor wear	Major buff — long-range dominance restored
Assault Rifles	Increased damage drop-off at mid-to-long range	Nerf — less effective at distance
Shotguns	Reduced armor wear, wider bullet spread	Adjusted — less punishing in close quarters
Panzerfaust	Bigger explosion radius, more vehicle damage, reduced backblast	Rebalanced — safer to use, deadlier vs vehicles

This is a significant meta shift. Sniper mains, your time has come. AR players, you’ll need to rethink your engagement distances.

The Gladiator Theme — Erangel Gets a Mythical Makeover

Beyond weapons, the 4.4 update introduces a full Gladiator-themed mode on a revamped Erangel. Four iconic urban zones — Yasnaya Polyana, Ruins, Ferry Pier, and Mylta — have been transformed into ancient mythical ruins. Ruins and Ferry Pier received complete architectural overhauls, while Yasnaya and Mylta got partial redesigns around trial landmarks.

A floating Coronation Island also joins the map. Players land, collect “Origin Embers,” battle rival squads, and can even ride a Sun Chariot to face a centaur boss deep within the island.

Themed Trials — What Can You Do?

The update introduces a team Honor system with five unique trials:

Trial	Honor Level	Description
Prometheus’ Trial	High	Guard Sacred Fires in transformed urban zones
Spartan’s Trial	Medium	Defend the battle flag and repel minions
Achilles’ Trial	Medium	Chase and destroy phantoms at high speed
Icarus’ Trial	Medium	Parkour to the summit for rewards & temporary flight
Gryphon Trial	Low (Repeatable)	Kick a Gold Ball into the goal for score-based rewards

Teams with enough Honor and high rank can enter the Crown’s Abode — the ultimate hall of glory,
