She playfully teased her action-heavy role, joking about the sheer number of dramatic slow-motion jumps she gets to perform, before laughing that she couldn’t reveal much more just yet.

This marks her first Indian film in eight years, and she’s called the project unlike anything she has done before. Interestingly, she also shared that she’d insisted to Rajamouli that her comeback needed a proper song-and-dance number — and while that particular sequence hasn’t been shot, she’s already wrapped a separate, intricately choreographed dance piece for the film.

Varanasi follows a determined seeker on a dangerous journey across centuries in search of a powerful, long-lost cosmic artifact. As ancient secrets slowly come together, he begins to suspect that the very force guiding him has its own hidden agenda. Adding to the film’s scale, Mahesh Babu — who anchors the story as Rudra — will also appear as Lord Rama in one of the film’s key segments.

Rajamouli recently confirmed the shoot is entering its final stretch, with roughly 80 filming days left before wrap.
