Enemies, Allies, or Both? Lee Joon Gi & Sakaguchi Kentaro’s “kiDnap GAME” Teases a Deadly Rivalry

A kidnapping thriller spanning seven Asian cities is about to test just how far love can push a person. New stills for Channel A’s upcoming series “kiDnap GAME” tease the tense first meeting between Lee Joon Gi and Sakaguchi Kentaro — two men forced to decide whether they’re rivals or allies in a survival game where only one participant walks away alive.

Lee Joon Gi, the Flower of Evil star known for his intense thriller roles, plays a retired surgeon whose visually impaired daughter is kidnapped, forcing him back into a world he tried to leave behind. Opposite him, Japanese actor Sakaguchi Kentaro plays an elite Tokyo detective drawn into the same deadly game after his wife is taken. The production team says the pair built “intense tension with nothing more than their eyes” from their very first scene together.

kiDnap GAME: Overview

The series’ pan-Asian scale is part of what’s fueling buzz — with characters and cast spanning South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand, this isn’t a typical single-country thriller. Instead, it’s shaping up as one of the more ambitious co-productions of the fall drama season.
