Trainers, mark your calendars — Pokémon GO’s next Community Day lands this weekend, and it’s putting the spotlight on a Pokémon that doesn’t get nearly enough love: Nickit, the Fox Pokémon.
When and Where
The event runs Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST, with meetups happening across 51 cities in India — from Bengaluru’s Cubbon Park and Orion Mall to Mumbai’s Shivaji Park, New Delhi’s Lodhi Garden, and dozens of other parks, malls, and campuses nationwide. If you’re new to these meetups, check our Pokémon GO events coverage for tips on making the most of Community Day.
What’s Featured
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Featured Pokémon | Nickit (increased wild spawn rate) |
| Shiny chance | Yes, plus possible Special Background |
| Evolution reward | Evolve to Thievul during/within 4 hrs after for Icy Wind |
| Special Research | ₹59, Nickit-exclusive |
Evolving Nickit into Thievul during the event — or within four hours afterward — nets you a Thievul that knows the Charged Attack Icy Wind, a move it can’t normally learn outside this window. That makes timing your evolutions genuinely worth planning around.
Community Day Special Research
For ₹59, the Nickit-exclusive Special Research unlocks extra rewards on top of the usual event bonuses, including three Nickit encounters guaranteed to have a Special Background, additional Nickit encounters, a Premium Battle Pass, and a Rare Candy XL. Tickets can also be gifted to friends at Great Friends level or higher — just tap the ticket in the in-game shop and hit Gift instead of Buy. Keep in mind tickets are non-refundable, and this particular research won’t include an in-game medal or story.
Event Bonuses
| Bonus | Details |
|---|---|
| Stardust | 3× for catching Pokémon |
| Candy | 2× for catching Pokémon |
| Candy XL chance | 2× for Trainers level 31+ |
| Incense duration | 3 hours (excludes Daily Adventure Incense) |
| Lure Modules | 1 hour duration |
| Special Trades | Up to 2 for the day |
| Trade Stardust cost | 50% reduced |
Most bonuses run during the core 2–5 PM window, but Incense, Lure Modules, Special Trades, and reduced trade costs stay active until 9:00 PM local time — so there’s no need to rush if you can’t make it out during the main slot.
Why Nickit Is Worth Prioritizing
Nickit has largely flown under the radar since its introduction, making this a rare chance to stock up on candy and land a shiny before it becomes harder to find in the wild. For the official rundown of past and upcoming events, Niantic’s own Pokémon GO Live announcements page is worth bookmarking.
A Reminder Before You Head Out
As always, stay aware of your surroundings and follow local health and safety guidelines while playing. Keep following our mobile gaming coverage section for the next Community Day announcement.
