A new PlayStation 5 system software update, version 24.06, has been released worldwide, introducing a range of exciting new features. Some of these enhancements were tested in recent beta firmware, and now they’re available to all users. Here’s a breakdown of what the update includes and how it improves the PlayStation 5 experience.

Welcome Hub: A Customizable Space for Players

The update introduces the Welcome Hub, a personalized area on the PlayStation 5 home screen that allows users to customize their experience by adding and adjusting widgets. These widgets provide useful information such as console storage, battery levels for accessories, online friends, and trophy progress.

Users can customize the size of each widget and modify the background to suit their preferences. Initially rolling out for select users in the U.S., the hub will expand to Japan and parts of Europe in the coming weeks, offering a flexible tool for personalizing the PlayStation 5 experience.

Party Share: Expanded Voice Chat Capabilities

Another significant feature of the update is Party Share, which greatly enhances the PlayStation 5’s voice chat capabilities. With this feature, players can now share party voice chat links through any messaging or social media app. This change makes it easier for non-friends on the PlayStation Network to join voice chats, enhancing collaboration and social interaction during gaming sessions.

Additionally, PlayStation has announced that a PlayStation App update will soon introduce similar functionality, allowing users to share voice chat links directly from the app. This expanded connectivity is a notable improvement, making it more convenient for users to interact with friends and new players alike.

Personalized 3D Audio Profiles for Immersive Sound

For those who enjoy an immersive audio experience, the update also brings personalized 3D audio profiles for both headphones and earbuds. This feature allows players to fine-tune their sound settings for a more customized audio experience based on their preferences and the games they are playing.

By offering customized soundscapes, PlayStation 5 aims to enhance the immersive qualities of gaming, making every session feel more real and engaging.

Remote Play Improvements

Another key feature introduced with the 24.06 update is a new Remote Play setting. With this update, individual users now have more control over enabling Remote Play, providing flexibility for those who want to access their PlayStation 5 from different devices. Whether gaming on a mobile device or another console, this improvement offers greater ease of use and convenience for gamers on the go.
