Finding new drugs is slow, expensive, and often fails late in the process — AI is about to change that. Persistent Systems has announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to deploy AI-powered drug discovery solutions for the Healthcare and Life Sciences (HLS) industry, built on the NVIDIA BioNeMo platform. The centrepiece of this collaboration is GenMolVS — a Generative Molecules and Virtual Screening solution that can compress months-long experiments into days.

What GenMolVS Actually Does

Early-stage drug discovery has always been a costly gamble — researchers run countless wet laboratory experiments hoping to find viable molecular candidates, with most failing at significant expense. GenMolVS flips that model. Rather than testing molecules in a lab first, it uses AI-driven molecular simulations to model the physical and chemical properties of molecules digitally, screening candidates virtually before a single experiment is run.

The agentic AI workflows built on NVIDIA NeMo enable continuous decisioning across virtual screening, candidate prioritisation, and experimental planning — translating simulations directly into informed lab strategies. Persistent’s EVP Ganesh Nathella put it plainly: the goal is to help BioPharma clients move from months-long experiments to AI-driven discovery in days without compromising on scientific rigour or compliance.
