What Is Gold Land About?

Gold Land follows Hee Joo (Park Bo Young), a security screening officer at an international airport who unexpectedly comes into possession of gold bars tied to an illegal smuggling ring. As those around her become consumed by greed and betrayal, Hee Joo is drawn into a dangerous battle — not just with others, but with her own growing desire to keep the gold.

This isn’t your typical K-drama setup. The premise is refreshingly sharp — a morally ordinary woman thrust into extraordinary circumstances and slowly tempted by what she finds. That internal conflict is what makes it so compelling even before a single episode airs.

Kim Sung Cheol plays Jang Wook, a debt collector known as Woo Gi and a low-level member of a loan shark ring WBHM — making him the kind of unpredictable wildcard character who could be ally, enemy, or both at different times.

The First Poster Is Already Iconic

The poster shows a golden logo against a dark background, with a pile of gold bars hidden deep in a mine, emitting a radiant light that symbolises desire awakening. The copy, “Dazzling desire blooming in the darkness,” conveys the critical moment of choice in extreme circumstances.

It’s visually striking and thematically on point — the contrast of blinding gold against pitch-black darkness says everything about the moral tightrope Hee Joo is about to walk. This is serious, cinematic K-drama energy.

Why Gold Land Is a Must-Watch in April

Park Bo Young has consistently delivered standout performances across every genre she’s touched — from comedy to fantasy to melodrama. Watching her navigate a gritty crime thriller is genuinely exciting new territory. Paired with the always-compelling Kim Sung Cheol, this drama has everything it needs to be one of Disney+’s biggest K-drama hits of the year.

Gold Land will premiere episodes 1 and 2 on April 29 and will release two new episodes each week for a total of 10 episodes.
