West Ham unsuccessfully chased Sevilla’s En-Nesyri and Giovanni Simeone of Cagliari

0

West Ham were trying to sign different strikers to replace Sebastian Haller, who joined Ajax in a rather surprising move from London to Amsterdam. One of the main targets for David Moyes was Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

Speaking on the rumoured transfer on the Here We Go podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio asserted that Sevilla only sell in the summer, hence, there was little chance of the Moroccan moving to London in the first place. Moreover, the reigning Europa League winners only signed the 23-year-old a year ago.

Having a contract that runs till 2025, and completing a transfer worth €20 million a year ago, En-Nesyri is a part of the club’s core plans and was always more likely to stay at the club, especially given his goalscoring record this season.

Giovanni Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone was one of the other names that West Ham were looking at. The Cagliari striker isn’t having a good season but they do need him since he is the starter.

The Hammers proposed a loan with buy option, with €1 million as loan fee but he is a good player so they said no since they need him. The Hammers also wanted an obligation to buy the player after the loan spell, effectively giving the financial power to Cagliari.

Arguably one of the most shocking transfers this year was of Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, who had an impressive debut for his new club, finding the back of the net twice. However, West Ham will now finish the season a striker light given that the transfer window has shut.

Redmi K40 series to have the smallest punch hole in the world

Xiaomi has launched a few smartphones in the previous two months which are gaining a lot of attraction. Its subsidiary, Redmi, is not willing to stand behind. Redmi is soon going to come out with its Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro devices. Both of these smartphones are hotly awaited by the customers.

Now, we have another latest update of these devices. Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing, has come out publicly to issue out a piece of information about this device. This information has raised the excitement level of the people who are looking forward to the launch of these two smartphones.

Lu Weibing stated that he has been pondering on the idea to maximize the screen-to-body ratio of the device. This has led to the development of various ideas to make the smallest hole for the front camera. According to reports, Redmi is going to deploy centred punch hole in their upcoming devices. This is a shift from their traditional policy of having a pill-shaped hole punch. They are not only changing the shape but also the size of the punch hole.

Redmi K40 series expected to have three models equipped with Snapdragon 800 series chips

The smallest punch hole comes in Vivo S5 handset whose punch hole measures 2.98 millimeters. So, if Redmi wants to beat its competitor, they have to build an even smaller punch hole. Thus, giving more space to the screen of the device which is admired by everyone. The reports suggest that if this is the case then Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro devices might have a front punch hole of 2.8 millimeters.

You can refer to the tweet below. Not only the camera but Redmi will upgrade its other features as well. The two upcoming devices might be powered by Snapdragon 888 chipset. Also, their charging levels are speculated to be better than the previous model. The Redmi K30 launched with 27W fast charging but its successor is expected to have the better facility of 33W fast charging. Redmi K30 Pro launched with 30W fast charging but both the new models are expected to house a 33W fast charging capability.

India Vs England: Joe Roots hits a century on the first day of 1st Test

0

England skipper Root won the crucial toss and without any hesitation opted to bat first. Joe Root registered up a classy century in his 100th Test match as England ended up against India on Day 1 of the first Test in Chennai at a charging 263/3. Along with Root, opener Dom Sibley also played a tremendous knock of 87 runs but was soon dismissed by lethal Jasprit Bumrah in the final over of day 1.

England had a decent start but then started losing wickets and eventually lost two wickets of Rory Burns and Dan Lawrence before lunch, giving India some relief. But Joe Root and Sibley’s partnership of 200-run again made some way for England and the third wicket and helped England end Day 1 being on the top. Root, in the process, also became the ninth batsman to score a century in his 100th Test.

Though for India, it was a tough day as their bowlers as they were forced to work their fingers to the bone to break the Root-Sibley duo as India got nine overs to bowl, especially with the second new ball where Bumrah took 2 off 40 and finally managed to send back Sibley. But unfortunately, Sibley fell 13 runs short of a hundred.

Though the hosts managed to pick only two wickets in the first session, England dominated the rest of the day on the field and was quite a tough day for the Indian bowlers to send team England back to the pavilion. Though Bumrah’s removing of Sibley to end the day, was quite a positive note for the hosts.

Also, Shahbaz Nadeem and Washington Sundar’s inclusion in the squad instead of Kuldeep Yadav has been quite a speculative aspect, Rahul Chahar was also added to the splaying XI after all-rounder Axar was ruled out of the first Test of the four-match series against England. Kuldeep Yadav’s non-inclusion in the team has been a hot topic currently and also may be a thing to worry about for the bowling line-up.

LeBron James surpasses Wilt Chamberlain for the third spot on NBA’s all-time field goal list

0

On Thursday, in the first quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Denver Nuggets, LeBron James passed Wilt Chamberlain to rank third all-time in career field goals.

Wilt Chamberlain holds the NBA record for most points in a game (100), most points per game in a season (50.4) and most field goals in a season (1,597). In November of 2018, James passed him on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, right after he joined Chamberlain’s former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

With his third field goal against the Denver Nuggets, James reached 12,682 for his career which gives him the third-most in league history. The play came early in the first quarter on a layup. Chamberlain ended his career with a total of 12,681 field goals.

On January 25, 2020, James passed Kobe Bryant to become the NBA’s third all-time leading scorer. This occurred in Bryant’s hometown of Philadelphia the night before he tragically died in a helicopter accident.

The next targets for James, in field goals made, are Karl Malone, who made 13,528 field goals during his 19-year career, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is the all-time leader in field goals with 15,837. Malone and Abdul-Jabbar both retired with the Lakers.

The Lakers megastar averages roughly 735 made field goals per season for his career. Therefore, assuming he maintains his current pace, he would pass Malone towards the end of next season, and then need approximately three more seasons to catch Abdul-Jabbar.
