Microsoft brings AI-Powered Search Engine to its Windows 11

Microsoft is wasting no time bringing its new AI-powered Bing to all of its products. After introducing it in its Edge browser and then bringing it to the Edge, Bing, and Skype apps on mobile, it is now the turn of Windows 11 to welcome the new Bing to its taskbar.

This is part of a major Windows 11 update that also includes the first preview of Phone Link for iOS, which will allow you to take calls and respond to messages from your iPhone on your Windows PC, tabs in the default Notepad app, new energy recommendations, a redesigned Quick Assist app to make it easier to remotely assist your parents with their computer problems, and other features.

If you’ve used Windows 11, you’re probably familiar with the search box that’s built into the taskbar by default. That is now where you will find the new Bing, ready to answer your questions but unwilling to talk about itself.

According to Microsoft, the search box is one of the most popular features in Windows, with over 500 million monthly users.

That is a prominent placement for the new Bing. Indeed, with a low single-digit market share, the Bing search engine is likely to have fewer monthly users. To use the new Bing, you must first join the waitlist, so not every Windows 11 user will have immediate access.

It’s no secret that Microsoft has faced a lot of criticism since the launch of Bing earlier this month. In many ways, this felt like a hurried release, but to Microsoft’s credit, many of the bugs discovered by Bing’s early users have since been fixed.

It’s also one thing to use the Bing chatbot to elicit an adversarial response from it, but it’s an entirely different experience to use it to assist with day-to-day searches. However, we need to investigate the edge cases, and Microsoft should have done more of that before launching it.

ESFI announce dates of NESC 2023 for the 15th World Esports Championships

The registrations for national qualifiers for the 15th World Esports Championships will commence from March 1 for a total of four different Esports titles – CS:GO, DOTA 2, Tekken and eFootball

The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) has announced the dates of the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2023 to pick the Indian contingent for the upcoming 15th World Esports Championships (WEC) in Iasi, Romania. The preliminary rounds of the national qualifiers are scheduled to take place online from March 14-19 with the Grand Finals set to begin on March 24.

In what is a revolutionary move, ESFI will be conducting the enthralling qualifiers for the country’s top female athletes in the CS:GO title. Overall, India’s proficient athletes will be competing in four different Esports titles including CS:GO, DOTA 2, Tekken, and eFootball.

“This is set to be the biggest ever year for Indian Esports where the country will be competing for glory at the Asian Games, Olympic Esports Week, Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, and the 15th World Esports Championships. ESFI is excited to not only witness the high pulsating action of the qualifiers but to also conduct these qualifiers for the country’s talented female athletes for the very first time and see them represent the country at the biggest Esports tournament on the globe. The official recognition of Esports as a multi-sport event has brought about a paradigm shift that has kickstarted the golden era of video-gaming in the country. We wish all the athletes competing in the qualifiers the very best and are confident that they will make the country proud at the WEC 2023,” said Vinod Tiwari, President of the Esports Federation of India.

After the conclusion of NESC 2023, the Indian athletes will be taking part in the regional qualifiers where they will take on competitors from other countries of the Asia and Oceania region. The dates for the regional qualifiers will be announced soon.

Organized by the International Esports Federation, the World Esports Championships 2023 will have a whopping prize pool of $500,000 and is set to be the largest edition of the tournament to date with at least 130 countries participating in it. The global finals of the prestigious tournament will take place from August 24 – September 4, 2023.

One of the country’s top sports & esports communication agencies, Artsmith-Concepts & Visions, will continue its support to the Esports Federation of India as their official communication partner.

The registrations for NESC 2023 will begin on Wednesday, March 1 with the last date being March 10. All details about the registrations will be available on ESFI’s discord server – https://discord.gg/esfi

According to a Business Standard survey, in India’s electronics sector, Apple has emerged as the employer of choice for blue-collar workers. Over the course of the last 19 months, the company has created over 100,000 new direct jobs, mostly thanks to its significant local vendors and their components and parts suppliers.

The positions were filled as a result of the government’s PLI (Production Linked Incentive) program, which aims to support regional industry and generate employment prospects.

According to the data, the number exceeds Apple’s pledge to create new jobs under the program in the second year by about 7,000. In terms of the fiscal year, the corporation has one month left. According to the research, suppliers of parts and chargers as well as Apple’s ecosystem have created an extra 40,000 employees.

Global PC GPU shipment down by 35% but NVIDIA still holds monopoly

Jon Peddie Research has released its latest GPU market summary for the fourth quarter of 2022, which shows NVIDIA leading the dGPU market share while Intel and AMD maintain a similar share.

According to JPR, the global PC GPU market, which includes all types of graphics processing units, reached 64.2 million units in Q4 2022 but declined by -35% year on year and -15.4% quarter on quarter. These losses can be attributed to a variety of factors, including rising PC component costs and inflation, which have impacted consumers worldwide.

The current trajectory predicts that GPU shipments will increase by 0.19% between 2022 and 2026, reaching a total installed base of 3.013 billion units, with discrete GPUs accounting for 32% of the segment’s market share. In terms of segment share, desktop GPUs were down by -24%, while notebook GPUs were down by -43%.

In terms of overall PC market share, AMD increased its share by 0.4%, Intel’s share decreased by -1.1%, and NVIDIA’s share increased by 0.68%.

Intel still has a 71% market share in the overall GPU segment, with NVIDIA coming in second at 17% and AMD coming in third at 12%. Although the discrete GPU market share fell to 13 million units, NIDIA maintained its >80% market share. In terms of shipments, Intel and AMD shared a 9% market share, which is significant for the blue team, which has only recently entered the discrete GPU segment.
