Bollywood’s rumour mill never sleeps, and this time it went into overdrive with a story that had the internet buzzing. Reports began circulating on social media claiming that Akshay Kumar would be collaborating with Rana Daggubati and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions on a grand period thriller set against the backdrop of Ujjain, reportedly to be directed by Thandel filmmaker Chandoo Mondeti.

On paper, it sounded like a blockbuster waiting to happen. The internet ran with it. Fan pages lit up. But here’s the thing — it simply isn’t true. Akshay Kumar’s own team has stepped in to put the record straight, and the verdict is crystal clear. As Dharma Productions continues to be one of the most discussed banners in Bollywood, it’s no surprise that even unverified project links to their name gain traction fast. Let’s break down exactly what happened.

What Were the Rumours Claiming?

Reports circulating on social media claimed that Akshay Kumar was teaming up with Rana Daggubati for a grand period thriller set in Ujjain, produced under Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, with Chandoo Mondeti — who previously directed Karthikeya and Thandel — reportedly helming the project.

It sounded exciting on the surface, but the truth was far more straightforward.

What Did Akshay Kumar’s Team Say?

Pinkvilla exclusively reached out to Akshay Kumar’s team to verify the claims. A senior representative of Akshay Kumar confirmed: “It’s not true. It’s fake.”

There it is — short, direct, and definitive. No film, no collaboration, no deal. Just another viral rumour that needed to be put to rest.

Akshay Kumar is currently enjoying the success of Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan, which is tracking as a clean hit at the box office — his fourth consecutive success in a year, following Kesari Chapter 2, Housefull 5, and Jolly LLB 3.

He will next be seen in Welcome To The Jungle, slated for June 26, 2026, followed by Haiwaan, which will mark his return to villain territory.
