Biggest Spanish-Language Boxing Night: “La Velada del Año”

Imagine a stadium-sized mix of amateur boxing, live concerts, and a creator awards show, all streamed to millions at once. That’s La Velada del Año, and starting in 2027 it will live exclusively on Netflix.

What Is La Velada?

It started in 2021 as a fun exhibition in a Barcelona concert venue. Today it’s a huge cultural event. Top Spanish-language streamers, vloggers, and content creators train for months and then face off in regulated amateur boxing bouts. Between fights, the ring becomes a concert stage with headline musical acts.

Growth by the Numbers

Milestone	Detail
2021	Average live audience of about 1 million
2025 (5th edition)	Peak of 9.3 million concurrent viewers
2026	Average live audiences above 6 million
Venues	Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano, Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu, Seville’s La Cartuja

It was previously broadcast through Ibai’s Twitch channel, with expansions to YouTube and TikTok. Netflix will now be the exclusive home.

How It Compares to English-Language Events?

The report likens it to creator boxing in the US and UK, such as the KSI and Paul brothers’ fights and Misfits Boxing. But La Velada leans more toward a variety show than a feud-driven pay-per-view. Its closest spiritual cousin is the UK’s Sidemen Charity Match, a joyful pop-culture festival rather than cut-throat competition.

What Ibai Says?

Ibai Llanos said the first event was held with no idea how far it could go, and that Netflix lets them make it bigger without losing the community that makes it special.

Why It Matters?

This is another sign of Netflix’s push into live events. Landing a creator-born phenomenon with millions of viewers gives it a large Spanish-speaking audience. For background on the founder, see Ibai Llanos on Wikipedia.
