What Is My Happy Marriage About?
Based on the beloved Japanese light novel series by Akumi Agitogi with illustrations by Tsukiho Tsukioka, the story follows Miyo Saimori, a young woman mistreated by her abusive family for lacking supernatural abilities. Her life shifts dramatically when she’s arranged to marry Kiyoka Kudo, a military commander rumored to be cold and cruel — only to discover he’s genuinely kind beneath the reputation.
Since debuting on Netflix, the series has become a standout in the streamer’s anime lineup, with Season 2’s early 2025 run keeping fans hooked despite some production delays around Episode 12.
What to Expect From the Specials
To mark the release date announcement, KADOKAWA’s official YouTube channel dropped a new teaser trailer featuring fresh animated footage of Miyo and Kiyoka navigating their newlywed life together. The teaser also debuts the new ending theme, “Just before the Prelude ~for me&you~,” performed by returning singer-songwriter Kashitaro Ito. Notably, the track shifts away from the musical tone of Seasons 1 and 2, leaning into a warmer, more up-tempo sound that mirrors the couple’s blossoming relationship.
Who’s Returning Behind the Scenes
Fans can expect continuity across the board: Kinema Citrus returns as the principal animation studio, Takehiro Kubota is back directing and handling series composition, and lead voice actors Reina Ueda and Kaito Ishikawa reprise their roles as Miyo and Kiyoka. Acclaimed composer Evan Call, known for his work on “Violet Evergarden” and “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” also returns to score the specials.
For collectors, the My Happy Marriage Season 1 Original Soundtrack is currently available on vinyl as a 3×12″ black LP set in a gatefold package, available across the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
