Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah earns 2022 FWA Footballer of the Year award

Mohamed Salah has won the 2022 Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year award. The Liverpool forward was voted the favourite with 48% of the votes, ahead of Kevin De Bruyne in second and Declan Rice in third.

Last season, Manchester City centre-back Ruben Dias won the award in his first season with the club. The defender led the team to the Premier League title by fortifying their defense, and has now been succeeded by one of the best attackers in the world.

The Egyptian has been in sensational form for Liverpool this year. He leads the race for the domestic golden boot, with 22 goals to his name. He has also provided 13 assists in 31 games for the Reds, keeping them in the race for the title, and in turn, the quadruple.

While his contract situation is yet unclear, he remains one of Liverpool’s most prized assets as of right now. Fans will be hopeful of Mohamed Salah committing to a future at Anfield, despite the current uncertainty about his future.
