Microsoft will soon be launching its Windows 11 officially and the hype is real. According to our latest information, it seems that we soon will be able to download the Epic Games Store as an app since Microsoft has just announced that its new OS now has the compatibility that will allow third-party apps to be discoverable on the Microsoft Store.
As we know, both Amazon and Epic Games will be bringing their apps to the Microsoft Store and Microsoft is welcoming them with open arms.
According to sources, similarly to the Apps of App Store, third-party storefronts will have a product detail page that allows their customers to check out user reviews and notable information about an app before installing it.
Microsoft stated that this decision is part of its “commitment to being an open store for an open platform”.
Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 is scheduled for arrival on October 5, and will bring with the public launch of a new Microsoft Store, but, third-party storefront apps won’t be rolling out immediately.
Epic Games and Amazon will be the first companies to bring their storefront apps over to the Microsoft store, however, this will take place over the next few months.
Coming to other information, Microsoft has confirmed that the new version of the operating system will be phased in gradually. And the company has announced that the eligible devices will be the first to receive the upgrade, with support for other models rolling out thereafter.
Windows 10 is expected to still be supported until October 2025.
