On August 31, Lionel Messi officially announced his retirement from Argentina’s national team, closing a 21-year international career that included the 2022 World Cup title and a runner-up finish at the 2026 World Cup. As fans across the world process the end of an era, LEGXI — India’s first certified sports collectibles platform — is giving Indian collectors a rare, final opportunity to own an authentic, hand-signed piece of Messi’s legacy.

Why Messi’s Collection Matters?
This isn’t just merchandise — it’s a documented piece of football history. Every collectible in LEGXI’s Messi range is individually signed by the man himself, with each piece carrying a unique edition number to guarantee authenticity. Given how demand has already outpaced expectations in India — with the Hand-Signed Stud and the GOAT Collector Trio Set both selling out — what’s left is genuinely scarce.
LEGXI CEO Rubal Gill noted the strong response reflects a bigger shift in Indian collector culture: a growing appetite for high-ticket, authenticated sports memorabilia rather than mass-produced fan merchandise. That shift is exactly what LEGXI is betting on, backing up every signed item with plans for a digital verification system so collectors can confirm ownership and access official certificates securely.
A Bigger Moment for Indian Sports Collecting
Messi’s retirement announcement came just weeks after Argentina’s heartbreaking World Cup final loss to Spain — and following personal tragedy, with the passing of his father and longtime agent, Jorge Messi. For millions of fans, particularly in football-obsessed markets like India, this moment marks a genuine full stop on one of the greatest international careers the sport has seen.
For LEGXI, the timing positions this collection as more than a commercial launch — it’s a milestone in building a credible, athlete-backed collectibles ecosystem in a country where authenticated sports memorabilia is still a relatively young category. With official AFA backing and Messi’s own signature on each item, this drop offers something rare: a verified, tangible connection to a legend’s final chapter with his national team.
