LIK Is Quietly Winning Hearts — And the Box Office Is Finally Noticing

Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), Pradeep Ranganathan’s quirky sci-fi romantic comedy, is building steady momentum at the box office, and day two numbers suggest the film has genuine legs going into the weekend.

LIK Box Office: The Numbers So Far

The Tamil film collected Rs. 9.50 crore on Day 2, registering a jump of approximately 20 per cent over its opening day. That’s not a dramatic leap, but in a competitive market, any upward trend is a green flag.

The two-day cumulative gross of LIK now stands at Rs. 17.50 crore at the Indian box office, and based on current trends, the film is expected to close its opening weekend around the Rs. 25 crore mark.

Where Is LIK Performing Best?

Unsurprisingly, Tamil Nadu is carrying the film on its shoulders. LIK collected around Rs. 11.50 crore from its home market, while Karnataka contributed approximately Rs. 2 crore and the Telugu states (AP/TS) added Rs. 3.50 crore. The rest of India chipped in around Rs. 50 lakh.

What Is LIK Actually About?

Set in the year 2040, LIK follows Vasu, a young man living in a world where technology governs everything — including love. A love insurance company claims its algorithm can match every relationship perfectly, but Vasu becomes the singular threat to that claim when he falls for Dheema, an incompatible match according to the app.

It’s a fresh, funny, and surprisingly relevant premise for a generation that has swiped through enough dating apps to know exactly how hollow algorithms can be. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the film features Pradeep Ranganathan alongside Krithi Shetty, SJ Suryah, Gouri G Kishan, and Yogi Babu.

What to Watch For Next

The real test begins on Monday. All eyes are now on LIK’s weekday hold — if the Pradeep Ranganathan starrer manages to sustain during weekdays, it will position the film for a positive overall outcome. Word of mouth appears warm so far, and that’s the only algorithm that truly matters at the box office.
