Johny Lever Is Finally the Hero — Salman Khan & Akshay Kumar to Do Cameos in His Next Bollywood Comedy

For decades, Johny Lever has been the man who steals every scene he walks into. Now, in a full-circle moment that Bollywood fans truly deserve, India’s undisputed comedy king is stepping into the lead role — and the biggest names in the industry are lining up just to make a cameo in his film. Let that sink in.

What’s the Film About?

According to an exclusive report by Pinkvilla, Johny Lever is set to headline a brand-new comedy film directed by Farhad Samji — the man behind several big commercial entertainers — and produced by NH Studioz and Roaring River Productions.

Lever will reportedly play a common man at the centre of the story, leaning into the slice-of-life comic space that he has always owned effortlessly. The full cast is still being locked in, but sources suggest the makers are being very deliberate about who they bring on board, keeping details tightly under wraps.

What makes this project truly special, however, is what’s happening on the sidelines.

The Cameo Factor — Salman & Akshay in Supporting Roles?

Here’s where it gets genuinely exciting. A source close to the production told Pinkvilla:

“The makers are looking to have multiple top superstars do a cameo in the film, including names like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, among others.”

These cameos are being designed to deliver surprise moments for audiences and elevate the film’s overall appeal. When you have Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar — two of the biggest box office draws in the country — showing up in a Johny Lever-led comedy, you know the industry is treating this as something genuinely exciting.

Why This Is a Big Deal for Bollywood Comedy?

Let’s be honest — Bollywood comedy has been in a bit of a rough patch. The golden era of ensemble comedies (Hera Pheri, Golmaal, Welcome) feels like a distant memory, and audiences have been hungry for something that actually makes them laugh without trying too hard.

Johny Lever headlining his own film isn’t just a career milestone — it’s a statement. The man has been the backbone of Indian comedy for over three decades, appearing in more than 300 films according to his Wikipedia page, and earning a devoted fan base that spans multiple generations.

Pairing him with Farhad Samji, who understands the grammar of mass-market Bollywood comedy, is a combination with genuine potential. Add superstar cameos to the mix and you have the ingredients for a proper theatrical event.

What to Expect?

Farhad Samji’s films have always been built around energy, larger-than-life characters and crowd-pleasing moments. With Johny Lever as the anchor rather than a supporting act, the comedy has room to breathe and develop in a way it never could in ensemble settings.

The cameos by Salman and Akshay also suggest the film is aiming for a wide, family-friendly theatrical experience — the kind that fills seats on opening weekends and generates word of mouth.

No shoot dates or release window have been officially confirmed yet, but given the excitement around the project, an announcement is expected soon.
