The Jaat sequel just got a massive director upgrade — at least on paper. If the latest industry buzz is accurate, Mythri Movie Makers are in talks with Akhanda director Boyapati Srinu to helm Jaat 2, and the prospect of pairing Sunny Deol’s raw screen power with Boyapati’s mass-action filmmaking style has fans absolutely buzzing.

What’s the Real Story Behind the Director Change?

Gopichand Malineni — who directed the original Jaat — is currently committed to another project, which has led the makers to approach a new director for the sequel. Mythri Movie Makers initially approached Sriram Adittya before turning their attention to Boyapati Srinu. However, nothing has been officially confirmed yet — and notably, Boyapati himself is currently looking for the right project and lead hero, making this a potential opportunity for both sides.

Boyapati had also narrated a story to Ranveer Singh post-Akhanda 2, but Dhurandhar‘s massive success shuffled Ranveer’s entire lineup, pushing Boyapati’s project to the backtrack. He also met Rana Daggubati for a pan-India project, which hasn’t moved forward either. Jaat 2 could be the Bollywood door Boyapati has been waiting to open.

Reports suggest discussions are currently in an advanced stage, and the film is expected to be mounted on a large budget across multiple languages.
