What Is “Perfect Crown” About?

Set in a fascinating alternate universe where modern-day Korea is a constitutional monarchy, “Perfect Crown” follows Seong Hui Ju (IU) — a chaebol heiress with beauty, wealth, and capability, but zero social standing as a commoner born out of wedlock. On the other side is Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo Seok) — royalty by blood, but a prince who has nothing despite his lineage.

The newly released teaser dives straight into Seong Hui Ju’s audacious plan: marry the Grand Prince to elevate her social status. When her chief secretary and the Prime Minister push back with “How are you going to marry Grand Prince Ian?”, she fires back without missing a beat — “Why can’t I?” That single line? It tells you everything about this character.

She corners the Prime Minister for cabinet approval, lays out her case plainly, and eventually faces the Grand Prince himself with the most brazen four words possible: “Will you marry me?”

And Byeon Woo Seok’s Grand Prince Ian? He’s already falling — you can see it in the teaser.

Why This Drama Is Already a Must-Watch

IU is one of South Korea’s most beloved singer-actresses, with a track record of iconic roles. Paired with Byeon Woo Seok, who captured global hearts in Lovely Runner, this casting alone makes “Perfect Crown” one of the most anticipated K-dramas of the year. The alternate monarchy setting adds a fresh layer that separates it from typical romance dramas.
