Itel A26 price in India, specs, and verdict: a 5.7-inch, 2GB/32GB budget phone under ₹6,000. Is this entry-level Itel worth buying?

Itel A26 in India: Is This Sub-₹6,000 Phone Still Worth It?

Not every smartphone needs to win a spec-sheet war. Some just need to get a first-time buyer online without emptying their wallet. The Itel A26 was built for that job. It launched in India on September 22, 2021, aimed at budget-conscious buyers with a price below ₹6,000.

What You Get

The phone has a 5.7-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch and 19:9 aspect ratio, running on a Unisoc SC9832E chipset. It pairs 2GB of RAM with 32GB of storage, a 5MP rear camera setup, a 2MP selfie camera, face unlock, and a 3,020mAh battery. Connectivity covers dual-SIM 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

Price and Availability

At launch, the 2GB/32GB model was priced at ₹5,999 and sold through Flipkart. Buyers also got a one-time free screen replacement within 100 days of purchase. Prices have since drifted lower. A 2026 listing showed ₹5,090 on Amazon India in February, though stock and pricing change often, so check the store before you buy.

Who Is It For?

The A26 suits people who want a simple 4G phone: a first smartphone, a backup handset, or a basic device for parents and grandparents. It handles calls, WhatsApp, YouTube, and browsing. It isn’t built for demanding games, and one source says it can manage light casual titles but may struggle with graphics-heavy ones.

Where It Falls Short

• It ships with the outdated Android 10 (Go Edition)
• It charges through a microUSB port
• No fingerprint sensor, no 5G, and no fast charging

Verdict

The Itel A26 is a basic, low-cost phone that does the essentials. If you want better software support, faster charging, or a smoother experience, a newer phone in the ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 range will serve you better. If the budget is fixed and needs are simple, it still makes sense.
