iPhone 17 Pro Max to Be 5% Thicker – Bigger Battery Incoming?

Why Is Apple Making the iPhone 17 Pro Max Thicker?

Apple has been gradually increasing battery sizes in its flagship models, improving battery life with each iteration. However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max maintained the same 8.3mm thickness, suggesting that Apple might have reached a physical limit. The latest leak hints that Apple is now willing to tweak dimensions to accommodate a bigger battery.

Will Apple Use Silicon-Carbon Battery Technology?

There is no confirmation yet on whether Apple will incorporate silicon-carbon battery technology in the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This technology, already embraced by Chinese smartphone manufacturers, allows for increased battery capacity without making devices bulkier. Reports suggest Apple is exploring this technology, but no official timeline has been revealed.

What Else to Expect from the iPhone 17 Pro Max?

✔ Same Overall Design: The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to retain the same form factor as the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
✔ Possible Material Changes: Rumors indicate Apple may shift back to an aluminium frame, moving away from the titanium used in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro.
✔ Camera Module Remains the Same: Apple is likely to keep the triangular camera lens arrangement within a rounded-rectangular camera bump.
✔ Similar Dimensions to iPhone 17 Air: The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Air are rumored to share similar overall dimensions, with thickness being the only difference.

How Does This Compare to Other Smartphones?

With smartphone manufacturers pushing the limits of battery capacity, Apple may be feeling the pressure to compete. Many Android flagships now feature batteries exceeding 6,000mAh, making battery life a key battleground. A thicker iPhone 17 Pro Max could be Apple’s response to these advancements.

A Worthwhile Upgrade?

If these leaks prove accurate, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could offer better battery life than ever before. However, until Apple confirms the details, it remains speculative. A thicker design may not appeal to all users, but if it leads to a longer-lasting battery, it could be a worthy trade-off.
