If you were hoping to walk into a store and buy an iPhone Duo on launch day, the numbers do not look encouraging. A report attributed to Mint says only around 6,000 units are expected in India during the first week, per TelecomTalk (20 October 2026).
Apple has not confirmed the figure and did not answer Mint’s question about supply.

Shops short on stock
Some smaller shops are unsure whether they will get any stock. One Delhi shop reportedly asked for 100 units and received only 5. These stock figures and grey-market prices are estimates, not statements from Apple.
The grey market
Sellers are reportedly sourcing phones from Dubai and Singapore, where devices may be available earlier, and charging Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 over the Indian price. Buyers paying the premium are mostly seeking early access, not extra features.
The risks are real: such phones may come without an Indian invoice and without equivalent Apple support or warranty.
How this fits the wider shortage
GSMArena has reported that Apple’s online store moved delivery for new pre-orders to 22 January in nine markets including India, and an analyst estimates about 6 million units this year. See our earlier stories on the iPhone Duo price in India and the delivery delay.

What buyers should do
Pre-order through Apple or an authorised reseller, and avoid paying a premium for an imported unit that may lack local warranty cover.
What Is Not Confirmed
- The 6,000-unit figure is a media report attributed to Mint, not an Apple statement.
