Intel confirms its Raptor Lake Core i5-13600 CPU and below chips will include Alder Lake Cores

The most recent rumour said that all Core i5-13600 non-K series processors and lower were built using the Alder Lake chip. In a stolen sales presentation, under the heading “new and featured technology,” this information was subtly highlighted. Only Core i5 and higher CPUs will have increased L3 and L2 cache, which means that only these CPUs will be built on Raptor Cove architecture, which has greater cache.

There are currently only four 13th Gen non-K versions from the i5 and i3 series that are known: the 13600, 13500, 13400, and 13100. The C-0 die will be used in all but the final one, and H-0 is supposed to be used in that one.

Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake Desktop CPUs Expected Features:

  • Up To 24 Cores & 32 Threads
  • Brand New Raptor Cove CPU Cores (Higher P-Core IPC)
  • Based on 10nm ESF ‘Intel 7’ process node
  • Up To 6.0 GHz clock speeds (expected)
  • Double The E-Cores on certain variants
  • Increased Cache for both P-Cores & E-Cores
  • Supported on existing LGA 1700 motherboards
  • New Z790, H770, and B760 motherboards
  • Up To 28 PCIe Lanes (PCH Gen 4 + Gen 3)
  • Up To 28 PCIe Lanes (CPU Gen 5 x16 + Gen 4 x12)
  • Dual-Channel DDR5-5600 Memory Support
  • 20 PCIe Gen 5 Lanes
  • Enhanced Overclocking Features
  • 125W PL1 TDP (Flagship SKUs)
  • AI PCIe M.2 Technology
  • Q4 2022 Launch (October Possibly)

In essence, this means that Raptor Cove cores will be replaced with Golden Cove Performance cores in these SKUs. The L2 cache on a smaller cluster of Gracemont low-power cores will be 2MB rather than 4MB. This will likely affect the performance of Intel’s mid-range to entry-level CPUs and could make it difficult for them to compete with AMD Zen4 desktop CPUs. However, neither AMD nor leaked Intel presentations have yet to make low-spec SKU announcements.
