An early exit doesn’t always mean an empty pocket. Even after crashing out of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup before the knockouts, Harmanpreet Kaur’s Team India is still set to pocket over ₹3 crore — proof that in cricket, every win (and every match played) counts financially.
The tournament wrapped up at the iconic Lord’s, with Australia and England battling for the title. But long before the trophy was lifted, the ICC had already locked in a bumper prize pool — up 10% from the 2024 edition, rising from $7,958,077 to $8,764,615 (approx. ₹83.4 crore).
T20 World Cup: Prize Money Breakdown
| Position | Prize Money (USD) | Approx. INR |
|---|---|---|
| Winners | $2,340,000 | ₹22.28 Cr |
| Runners-up | $1,170,000 | ₹11.14 Cr |
| Losing Semi-Finalists | $675,000 each | ₹6.42 Cr each |
| Group Stage Exit | $247,500 (min) | ₹2.35 Cr |
| Bonus per Group Win | $31,154 | ₹30 lakh |
How India Earned Its Share
Despite exiting in the group stage, Harmanpreet Kaur’s side won three of five matches — against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Netherlands. Each win added roughly ₹30 lakh on top of India’s guaranteed ₹2.35 crore, pushing the total to around ₹3.25 crore, to be split among players and support staff.
The bigger story, though, was India’s missed opportunities. A blunt pace attack and sloppy catching cost them winnable games against South Africa and Australia — moments that could have taken them much deeper into the tournament, and significantly boosted their payout.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup remains one of the most prestigious events in women’s cricket, and prize money has climbed steadily with each edition as the sport’s global visibility grows.
