Let’s have a look into more details: IND vs ZIM 3rd T20I

Gill & Gaikwad Power India to 182

Captain Shubman Gill, leading from the front, anchored India’s innings with a stellar 66 off 49 balls. His innings was laced with seven boundaries and three sixes, providing a solid foundation for India’s total. Opening alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, the duo put up a 67 run partnership, setting the tone for a big score.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, coming in at number three, played a blistering knock of 49 runs off just 28 balls, striking at an impressive rate of 175. His partnership with Gill added 72 runs, taking India to a formidable total. Despite falling just one run short of his half century, Gaikwad’s innings was a crucial contribution to India’s total of 182/4.

Sanju Samson, returning to the side, made a quick 12 off 7 balls, including a boundary off the final ball, ensuring India crossed the 180 run mark. However, the standout moment came from Gill and Gaikwad, whose aggressive batting laid the foundation for a strong total.

Sundar Spins a Web, Restricts Zimbabwe to 159

Defending 183, India got off to a dream start as Avesh Khan struck on the very first ball, dismissing Wessly Madhevere. Khaleel Ahmed, making a comeback, also chipped in early with a wicket, putting Zimbabwe under immediate pressure.

Washington Sundar was the star with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 15 runs in his four overs. His spell included a crucial double-wicket over, breaking the backbone of Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. Sundar’s performance ensured that Zimbabwe never really recovered, despite a fighting half-century from Dion Myers, who remained unbeaten on 65.

Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed provided excellent support. Khan picked up two wickets in the powerplay, while Khaleel was the most economical bowler, conceding just 15 runs in his four overs. Ravi Bishnoi, although wicketless, was instrumental in maintaining pressure on the Zimbabwean batsmen.

India’s young brigade, led by Shubman Gill, has shown immense promise and resilience, bouncing back from a 0-1 deficit to take a 2-1 lead in the series. The combined batting brilliance of Gill and Gaikwad, coupled with Washington Sundar’s exceptional bowling, has put India in a commanding position. With two matches still to play at the Harare Sports Club, India will look to seal the series with another strong performance.
